About me I am a qualified Fitter and Turner and also passed a year engineering papers. The thing that keeps me with the engineering trade is satisfaction from making equipment or products that are made right. There is a lot of stuff produced, that its quality is compromised by manufacturing efficiency and techniques and perceived market needs. Racing history Bike racing and I go back some 22 years. I also enjoy touring and dabbled in track racing in the early days. Whist abroad in Britain I treated myself to a custom steel road bike to race on. It was nice to ride a bike specially made for me. Around this time, Aluminium frames were coming into prominence. An Aluminium copy of my custom frame was born using some early jig / fixtures and I liked the way it rode. As improved Aluminium materials were produced I was able to produce a new model of bike for myself using better methods. "Where did ya get your bike Mike?" other competitors would ask me while riding in the bunch. Through this interest, I started tailor making reliable bikes for racers. Bit of a product of engineering and cycling you might say. So you can see it is very satisfying for me to produce perfect one off bikes for people. |
