I wanted a custom made bike which I could use primarily for racing in triathlons (time trailing on aero bars) and a bike which would also be suitable for general road riding.  Mike designed and built a bike for me which has worked well for racing in an aerodynamic position for triathlons as well as general road riding and racing.

He knew that I was planning to do Ironman and we discussed at length how important it was for me to have a bike where the aerodynamic position was just the right balance between improving speed, and the all important 'comfort factor', to enable me to ride 180 km strongly and run a 42km marathon comfortably off the bike.

I completed all my build up training for Ironman on my Wilson Racing Bike as well as all my build up races which included sprint, olympic and half ironman triathlons. The variety of training I have completed on the hills, flat, time trials, speed work, short and long races has proven this bike to be the most outstanding I have ever ridden in both performance and comfort over long distances, especially on those aero bars.

Previously I had found riding on aero bars a difficult and sore position to maintain for very long, as a factory made bike just didn't have the right dimensions for me to be able to sustain this position.  I had no stiffness or soreness in my back, shoulders or neck after cycling 180 km's at Ironman - now that really is the test of a well designed bike!

Previous to having a Wilson Racing Bike I had always been a strong runner off the bike, but not such a strong cyclist.  Once I began training and racing on my Wilson Racing Bike I found my bike performance had improved with less physical and muscular effort and I was able to run more strongly off the bike than ever before.

If you are doing tri's of any length but especially Ironman, a custom made Wilson Racing Bike is the only way to go for optimum performance that goes the distance!
